THE EFFECTS OF YOUR WORDS.

Image
PROVERBS 18:21 DEATH AND LIFE ARE IN THE POWER OF THE TONGUE: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. We are standing at the threshold of the year 2023. Getting ready for a new beginnings and looking forward for a bright and happier future. The New year is like a blank book. Imagine that there is a pen in your hands. So it's time to write a beautiful story for yourself, your family and the Nation at large. The Psalmist said that, "...My tongue is the pen of a ready writer" (Ps. 45:1). So it's up to you to either write a beautiful or an ugly story of your life in 2023, with your tongue or the words of your mouth. You can actually shape your destiny with the words of your mouth!  We live in times of uncertainty due to the recent happenings around the world - ranging from economic decline to terrorism, kidnapping etc. Fear seems to be the dominant factor in our national life today, especially now that the electioneering season is here with us. And it is appare...

UNDERSTANDING THE WILL OF THE LORD.

Image
EPHESIANS 5:14-18 14. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,  16. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE WILL OF THE LORD IS. 18. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess [unnecessary]; but be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:14 is a clarion call; it's a wake-up call to the Church in these evil days in which we live. What is redeeming the time? The word means to make the most of, or to use time wisely. It also has the idea of urgency. If you are not careful with how you spend your time, you could get swept up and carried away with this evil. The Church is an extension of God's Kingdom here on planet earth. We are here on a mission. The Lord Jesus Christ said, "...As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you" (Jn. 20:21). The Church of Jesus Christ is a missionar...

GODLY COUNSEL FOR PROSPECTIVE MINISTERS.

Image
Hebrews 5:1,4 NET 1. For every high priest is taken from among the people and appointed to represent them before God... 4. And no one assumes this honor on his own initiative, BUT ONLY WHEN CALLED TO IT BY GOD...  Don't go into the ministry out of personal ambition. Don't go into the ministry because your friends or relatives encouraged you to do so. Don't go into the ministry as a last resort just because you felt there is no hope elsewhere. There is a divine call to the ministry: " And no one assumes this honor on his own initiative, but only when called to it by God... (Heb. 5:4). You must first ascertain whether or not the call of God is on your life. It is disastrous to venture into the work of the ministry without a calling from God. If you are called of God, you won't need anyone to tell you or prophesy to you. Prophecy can only confirm the call if it is there in the first place, but prophecy can't make you a minister if the call of God is not on your li...

STAND, AND KEEP ON STANDING.

Image
Ephesians 6:13,14 13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to WITHSTAND in the evil day, and having done all, to STAND. 14. STAND therefore... The courage to stand firmly on the promises of God without wavering till your answer comes is the real test of faith. The devil isn't moved about how much religion you profess, so long this vital spiritual ingredient is missing in your life. Thank God for the place of prayer in a Christian's life, but at times, there could be a little delay to your answer or expectation from God. What are you going to do in a moment like this? It is in times like these that many Christians make a shipwreck of their faith. They throw in the towel, so to speak, and then blame everyone including God for their predicaments. Worst still, those who are already discouraged, disenchanted and in despair, resorts to witch doctors or occultic men for help, and they try to manipulate or bend the scriptures to justify their actions by ...

THE SIMPLICITY OF THE GOSPEL.

Image
1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, IT PLEASED GOD BY THE FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING TO SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE. The gospel is good news, and the good news is simply that Jesus died for our sins and is now alive.  Satan has been defeated and the victory has already been won!  God intentionally designed the gospel to be simple so that it appealed to the common man. And it is being conveyed through "the foolishness of preaching". This is God's method; This is God's way. The redemptive work of Christ on the cross was all-sufficient and all-inclusive, and requires no addition from man. Don't stumble over the simplicity of the gospel by trying to add something to what God has already done in Christ. The gospel is so simple that one could easily stumble over the very simplicity of it. People have always stumbled over the simplicity of the gospel. For instance, some folks will tell you that your deliverance is not complet...

BE STRONG IN THE LORD.

Image
Ephesians 6:10,11 10.  "Finally, my brethren, BE STRONG IN THE LORD, and in the power of his might.  11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Understand that the phrase: "Be strong in the Lord," is neither a suggestion nor an advice, but a standing order from the Lord Jesus Christ to His Church. And you are the Church if you are a believer in Christ Jesus. Now, you don't have to flex your muscles in the natural, nor put on a religious show to prove that you are strong. It's not about being strong in yourself, but it's about being strong in God's Word to a point where nothing, and no one could dissuade you from the firm conviction that you have in God's Word. You don't entertain any dialogue with the devil. Your motto is "...Let God be true, but every man a liar..." (Rom. 3:4). God's Word is the final authority in your life. In that way, you cannot be easily swayed, neither by ma...

GROWING STRONG IN FAITH.

Image
Romans 4:19,20 19. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body... 20.   He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was srong in faith, giving Glory to God. The Bible says that Abraham was  "strong in faith." He "gave Glory to God" in the midst of a prevailing negative situation when there was no reason for him to do so. It was at a time when all hope was lost, and there seems to be no end in sight to the prolong state of barrenness that himself and Sarah were engulfed in. Abraham grew strong in faith because he is highly developed in the art of "giving God Glory" or praising Him in the amidst of life's toughest challenges. It was a habit that he developed overtime. He was "...fully persuaded that, what he (God) had promised, he was able also to perform" (Rom. 4:21). Strong faith isn't built overnight, strong faith is developed overtime. It takes time to come to a place where you become fully est...
