GOD'S FIRM FOUNDATION.

2 TIMOTHY 2:19 NHEB

However GOD'S FIRM FOUNDATION STANDS, having this seal, The Lord knows those who are His, and let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.

A foundation is the supporting structure of a building; it's the base of a building.

God's firm foundation is His Word. It has been proved or tested, and it has never been found wanting. His Word is trustworthy, reliable and dependable.

God and His Word are one; they are inseparable. He does nothing apart from His Word, thus He "... has magnified His Word above all His name (Ps. 138:2).

Down through the ages; from the beginning of creation to the present period, the Eternal God has wrought great and mighty works through the instrumentality of His Word.

He made the visible out of the invisible; He spoke the universe into existence, and created all things by the Word of His power!  "For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast" (Ps. 33:9).

Under the Old Covenant, "The Word of the Lord came to our fathers (The Old Testament Saints) through the Prophets, in different ways" (Heb. 1:1).

And now in the New Testament, His Word is the main channel through which the Gospel is being proclaimed.

In Paul's address to the brethren in Acts 20:32, He said, "And now brethren, I commend you to God, and to the WORD OF HIS GRACE, which is able to BUILD YOU UP, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified."

God's plan for the New Testament Church is that His Word should serve as the foundation for the spiritual growth, and development of the believer.

Jesus said, "...Upon this rock (His Word) I will build my Church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matt.16:18

OTHER FOUNDATIONS WILL NATURALLY FIZZLE OUT IN THE LONG RUN, BUT GOD'S FIRM FOUNDATION (HIS ETERNAL WORD) ABIDES FOREVER. IT IS THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH OUR LIVES MUST BE BUILT.

Over the years, there has being a subtle, and systematic departure from the Word of God which is the foundation and pillar of truth, and the adverse effect is still with us today!

In a bid to meet up with the demands of the modern society, some folks try to modify the Word of God in order to make it blend with present day lifestyles.

This explains the reason why the Word of God or the Gospel seems to no longer have any effect in people's lives because it's not really the Gospel, but rather it's Syncretism! (A mixture of little religion with little incantation, the philosophy of men or human tradition, with a little bit of God's Word).

And in some cases, the Word is left out completely! The worst part of it is that a lot of folks don't even know the difference!

Little wonder, the present day Church world is flooded with half-baked christians (though some are not christians in the first place). They are immature, unstable, having a defeatist mind set, not rooted; just floating on the surface of the water, so to speak.

"... Being carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive" (Eph. 4:14).

If we must produce a Victorious Church - A strong body of believers whose faith can stand the test of times, then they will have to be built on the Solid Foundation of God's Word.

Other foundations will naturally fizzle out in the long run, but God's firm foundation abides forever!

"The grass withered, the flower fadeth; BUT THE WORD OF OUR GOD SHALL STAND FOREVER" (Isa. 40:8).

Now, here is a word of caution for ministers, or those working in the Lord's vineyard. Our works shall be tested by fire at the end of the day, to know what stuff, or quality it's made of (1 Cor. 3:13).

Apostle Paul said, "...But let every man take heed how he buildeth upon." (1 Cor. 3:10). And remember, our Lord Jesus Christ also said, "I KNOW THY WORKS, AND THY LABOR..." (Rev. 2:22).

The Word can neither become obsolete nor be phased out. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away; but my Words shall not pass away" (Lk. 21:33). Again, He declared: "...The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" (Jn. 6:63).

God's Word is perfect, and complete; eternally relevant, and powerful. It has never lost its potency or efficacy!
