HOLD FAST TO THE CONFESSION OF YOUR FAITH.
"Let us hold fast to the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (Hebrews 10:23)
Emmanuel B. Afolabi
The word profession in this verse of scripture also means confession. We are told to hold fast or hold firmly, the confession of our faith in God our Heavenly Father without wavering or without being swayed unsteadily to and fro by the winds of adversity.
To confess means "to say the same thing," or "to admit." Confessing God's Word is admitting that God's Word is true regardless of contradictory circumstances.
Confessing God's Word on a regular basis is not an alternative, but an ultimatum if you must continue in faith.
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but that shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" (Joshua 1:8).
We are to meditate, mutter or speak the Word to ourselves "day and night" - twenty four hours everyday, and seven days every week. Even while on the job, you can quietly mutter the Word to yourself.
But if you wake up in the morning, and say something like, "Now I'm confused, I don't know what else to do with my life," or "my mountain seems to be getting bigger everyday," then it is obvious that "this book of the law" - the Word of God has departed from your mouth, and it has been replaced with something else.
Instead of speaking according to the dictates of your natural senses, - what you see, hear, smell, touch and how you feel, you are suppose to align yourself with your Heavenly Father by speaking His Words alone.
For instance, in Hebrews 13:5,6, His Words says:
5. ... For he hath said, I will never leave thee, not forsake thee.
6. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."
And again in 1 John 4:4, He says: "Ye are of God little children, and have overcome them (Satan, sin and the storms of life): because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Confession of God's Word, speaking in agreement with what God said, causes your mind to be renewed so you can think like God thinks. This is what it means to "... have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:6).
This in turn will cause you to talk like God talks. Then eventually, talking like God talks will cause you to walk like God walks - without fear, without anxiety, in victory instead of defeat! ๐ก๐ก๐ก
